WEST AMWELL TOWNSHIP AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITTEE MEETING

 May 22, 2003

The West Amwell Township Affordable Housing Committee met on May 22, 2003. Chairwoman Sue Molnar called the meeting to order at 8 pm. Present were Peter Buchsbaum, Ruth Hall, Sue Molnar, Linda Wilson and Joan Van der Veen.  Betty Jane Hunt was absent.

Mr. Buchsbaum stated that the ECHO Handbook is approved. Ms. Van der Veen will create an Acrobat pdf file to be sent to Carol Wilson to post on the web site. Mr. Buchsbaum will initiate by an article to promote the ECHO ordinance and handbook. He will contact Connie Volpe from the Beacon newspaper at freelancerangel1@aolcom.

Mr. Buchsbaum announced that West Amwell Township has received a grant of $180,000 from the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) through the Small Cities Program. Of the $180,000, West Amwell will have $10,000 for each of three units for rehabilitation.

The minutes of April 8, 2003 were unanimously approved with two minor changes: the spelling of Ken Bailles name and the addition of the 3-year time frame for approval to build an Accessory Apartment Unit.

The group reviewed and discussed the Annual Report as requested by Betty Jane Hunt. Discussion as follows: Mrs. Wilson asked if Ed Geubtner was still involved. He is involved at this time only with the rehabilitation units and was instrumental in getting the aforementioned grant. Discussion ensued about the need to update the information on the rehab units. Currently we have only 13 of the 14 documented in the “ Rehabilitation Project Information” report. With 9 Accessories and 13 Rehabs, we are in good shape per our obligation. We have probably spent all the money we have available. West Amwell and Lambertville share the Connaught Hill area. The number of units we have to satisfy is 30, 14 of which must be rehab units. We currently have 13 rehab units, 15 RCAs to Lambertville and 9 accessories (4 of which are double credits due to the fact that they are all units in place for 30 years.)

It was unanimously decided to give Mrs. Hunt a go ahead to complete the report and call or e-mail us if she needs any help.

Mrs. Molnar handed out a sheet detailing the 2003 Eligible Incomes for Hunterdon County for our information.

The next meeting will be June 12, 2003, at 6:30 pm at the township municipal building.

With no further business before the committee, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

 Joan Van der Veen
